Fort Calgary Historic Park

Before becoming y 1894, Calgary F Calgary. T Northwest Mounted Police (NWMP) built 1875. Today, F Calgary, located Inglewood confluence B Elbow rivers city's oldest historic monument.

T construction initiated April 10, 1875 y federal order force whiskey traders . Commanded y Éphrem A. Brisebois, "F" Troop travelled north F Macleod suitable p B . Construction began August September completed Christmas dinner local residents.

M 1882 barracks constructed. A -storey building could house 100 built 1888, since 1884 destroyed barracks.

T Deane House built nearby 1906 Superintendent F Calgary, Captain Richard Deane. I originally constructed 9 A 6 S SE, facing towards barracks. Deane previous superintendent's house g enough Martha. Although budget project $5,000, total $6,200.

I 1914, T Grand Trunk Pacific Railway bought terminal demolished buildings except Deane House. T house moved southeast corner original location. T house purchased y C. L. Jacques 1929 moved across Elbow River, where stands today.

I 1969-1970, archaeological University Calgary began searching F current McCosham's warehouse. T eventually located under storage y behind McCosham's building. T captain Archaeologist, R Getty. C members included Joanne (Lorill) L Ry Kenny,among others. T unearthed original wooden beams F multitude historical artifacts.

I 1974, y Calgary reclaimed designated provincial National Historic S. T present reopened My 18, 1978.

A replica 1888 barracks completed 2000 current site, followed y erection palisades. T operated y F Calgary Preservation Society.
